In Chicagoland we are suffering from an epidemic of Driving Stupidity.
The picture below shows exactly what I am talking about. We’re at a stoplight and the car in front of me is more than a full car length back from the white line where you’re actually supposed to stop.
This person drove straight after the light turned green and never moved an inch forward after coming to their stop.
You cannot drive more than ten minutes around here without seeing someone pull this stunt and it doesn’t matter what lane they are in or even if they are at the front of the line at a stop light. People do this when they are in the left turn lane and are the first car, the middle lane or the right lane like the picture below. People leave sometimes two car lengths between them and the car in front of them when they are just in the line of cars.
These are not by accident. This behavior is clearly on purpose and someone has taught these Driving Menaces that this is the way to drive. It started a few years ago and has steadily gotten worse.
Hey Chicago! The line is there for a reason and your fellow drivers expect you to follow the rules we all drive by. If the rule is ever changed so that it is better/safer/more convenient/Whatever You Think Is A Good Reason To Drive like An Idiot, then they will move those lines back. Until then, stop endangering those of us who pay attention while driving.
