Got to see Mikael Orn and Philipe Riand’s IBM Connect 2013 INV110 – App Dev Strategy: Coding Social Business Applications a couple of days ago. You can watch the full video below. It is really an excellent watch.
I wanted to focus on two things though for XPage developers.
First, the Good News. XPages is integral to the Social Business Toolkit SDK. It’s in there. It’s part of the future. In the words of Phillipe Riande the SDK is “…fully integrated with XPages…” Take a look at the slide below. If you’re an XPager, you should feel pretty good about this.
Now, the Good Advice. Take a look at this second slide. Notice anything fellow Domino Folk?
That’s right! Domino is just one piece of the technology needed to participate in this space. How are you with GitHub? Dojo? jQuery? OpenSocial? Tomcat? You pretty good getting around at DeveloperWorks or OpenNTF.org? Got a good feel for what is happening on those sites?
Not so good? Well, I’m right there with ya! I need to know a lot more about these technologies than I do now.
Here’s the Good Advice: Pick something off of this second slide and go learn about what it is and how to use it! I think we’re all gonna’ need it!
